Have a quick question for those that have been on the Hudson for awhile -- will be repositioning from Stone Harbor to Stony Point. Would the weekend of April 8 be too soon to head up? Or is it likely that the ice will have cleared by then? I had originally been planning for later in April, but work looks like it'll be pretty intense around then. Thanks!

You should be ok with the ice, just watch out for trees, wood adn other floating debris.

Check with your marina and make sure they are "open". Last I checked the docks were still blocked off from access. Pretty sure you'll have no issue but better safe than sorry since technically they don't start the season till April 15th.

Three years ago we brought Wake-N-Waves home to Stony Point on April 9th and things were fine but they had started launching boats the final weeks of March.

I agree you should be ok if your marina is open. But also check the weather, there is still plenty of ice on the river now. I would expect that to clear up by then, but you never know, winter would only need to continue for another month. It's happened before.

Thanks, all. I had heard there could be alot of debris in the Hudson due to spring runoff and the like, so will keep an eye out on that. Will also check with SPBM to ensure the latest status -- they were supposed to rebuild part of the docking, but I thinnk that was over on D, not G dock. Thanks again!

G-Dock!!!! I guess you will be taking Rommer's place..
Good Luck and make sure you have a good Tide Clock.. You will need it.

I remember the nasty chocolate milk looking river that weekend!!!

Remember that?

Rommer, you were on G-Dock? SPBM initially gave me D-39, then later called and moved me to G-52. Apparently last year's renter wanted D-39 back.

Ahhh, so you'll be next to Shabba II

A great guy and a lot of laughs.

If you can still change thou, you want to be on the other side of the dock on the seawall side. Every extra foot towards the river is deeper water. Plus the boat traffic helps keep things open a bit.

As for chocolate milk...

Nothing like being able to see down 2 or 3 inches into the water!

The ice should be gone by then, but as all have said, beware of the trash you will find out there from the thaw. Just run slow and keep as many eyes as possible out and you should be ok. We are actually hoping to have dinner on the boat that weekend so as you go by Penny Bridge give a wave.

Caryl is planning Easter dinner on board again. We did it last year as well. Was really nice...

Kielbasa, perogies and the works...but then any thing on the boat is good...

John,

I don't even think you could see that far that weekend!

I was at Stony Point, on the water, yesterday and there is no ice. No water either, but no ice.

Looks like the ice flows are back today. Must be breaking up more up river...

On another note the SPBM parking lot has LOTS of water! Seems a water main broke across the street and is running to the river via the parking lot.
