Where to go for quick dinner by boat Amityville

So, 10th Anniversary and want to go to dinner by boat. I'm out of Amityville and don't want to haul out to Fire Island. Anyone know of something close? I've heard about the Tobay Cafe place but not sure if I'm allowed in there or if it's open. Right now, all I know is MOllies or Toomy's.....
 
That is Singleton's in Tobay, not sure of their status. We tried to go once and they said residents only.
There is Bayvue in Lindenhurst next to Surfside, they have dock space.
There is freeport, plenty of places there.
After that it is Bayshore, Nicki's, Capt. Bill's, Fat Fish, Molly's.
 
Okay, Bayvue is the old surfs out I guess. They have dock space? Wasn't sure about that.....
 
Bayvue is the old lighthouse next to fuel dock.
I know there was a few a slips there.
Not sure what is there since Sandy as the whole marina there is destroyed still.
 
Tres Palms in Babylon has a couple transient slips for dinner. Its the first canal south of Babylon pool, just passed the village boat ramp. It is the old Mario's Hi-hook.

Across the street from Toomey's is Giacomo Jacks. Also on a canal, just bear right before the boatyards on the way to Toomey's. They have some good food, actually cooked by a chef, unlike the frozen & fried stuff Toomey's bartenders heat up right now.
 
We ate at Bayvue Sunday.
it has dock space and could handle some big boats.
Food is good.
Pricey but great view.
It's behind surfside 3 gas dock.
 
Ate at Bayvue 3 times, 1st excellent, last two horrible. I think it depends on the day of the week. Chef mid-week can't cook. Giacomo's food is pretty good and reasonable but no docking. There are two slips and Jack has his Tug in one and his Whaler in the other. New restaurant in Massapequa on Schmitt's canal, Smuggler Jacks. Good food, reasonable prices and great docking. Small restaurant so inside deating is limited, no outside seating after 9pm (residential neighborhood) wait could be an issue. I think Tobay is open to all after Labor Day so Singletons (both restaurants are an option). I'd call ahead.
 
How wide are the slips behind Smuggler Jack's. I remember going there by water years ago when it was a deli, but back then I think they only had a couple of slips for smaller boats right behind the place, and some other rental slips adjoining the parking lot. Can't remember.
 
How far can I run my boat along the South Shore from Lindenhphurst towards this restaurant. It looks like it gets a bit skechy a little past the point where the buoys change directions to red on left when heading west, by Jones Creek. I have never gone this far west without heading to the state channel. Is it navigable for a boat with a 3.5 foot draft at low tide? Thanks, Jeff
 
you take the north channel up to the 5mph floating sign (Massapequa Park) and then run along the shore line the rest of the way. It's all 5mph so it is slow going but Scmitt's Canal (Massapequa Shores) is not that far from Jones Creek, maybe 2 miles.

Plenty of water west of the 5MPH sign that divides Amityville and Massapequa. I go through there all the time.
You need to follow the shoreline and stay between the buoys on your port side while heading west, and the houses on your starboard.
Don't miss a turn, try to cut a buoy, etc., and you will be fine.
You'll see guys running on plane south of the buoys. Do not be tempted to follow them. They are probably locals with lots of local knowledge, and boats that don't draw too much water.
I wouldn't attempt it after dark though. Too easy to miss a buoy.
 
Considering the 5 mph areas, how long do you think it would take to get from Lindenhurst to Smugglers Jack?
 
Honestly, I wouldnt even take a large boat like yours to Smugglars. That canal getting into it can be pretty tricky too. I dont know if its worth it but if go for it.

If you are familiar with the North channel, you can run up on plane right into Massapequa cove. Once you hit massapequa cove DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS THE COVE. Go around the cove.
 
Appreciate the reply - You just convinced me to not bother taking the chance. It's been an excellent "uneventful" boating season, so I will try to keep it that way until on she is tucked away for the long, cold winter!

Good call Jeff, I looked at satellite view and it looks tight.
Some of those canals don't have alot of water.
I learned my lesson with my old boat visiting a friend on a canal in Lindenhurst.
Made it down fine, coming out we clipped something on the bottom in 2.5 feet of water and dinged a prop.
With IPS, I don't go anywhere unless I know for sure there is 4' of water minimum!
 
I hear you Dave. Most sane people looking at a chart of our area would not run their boats anywhere near us.

Glad to see you are enjoying your new boat. I saw you out on the bay a few weeks ago - She is a beauty!
 
Yeah I try to avoid super low tides but other times I am good.
It's gotten better as I am learning where the low spots are now.
FYI - About 100 yards off the gas dock heading south by AYC/SS23 at dead low tide you can find 2.5' under the boat. I usually glide thru there.
I have learned to kick in and out of gear as I find when i go in gear boat pulls down a little and will draft more.
 
I have heard there is a hump out there as you leave the canal. I don't draft as much as you, but I try not to head out at dead low tide. If I do, I idle out all the way to the red buoy before heading east.
