I've been asked to help fill in a gap in our club's Down Bay Cruise in September. We need to find something which is in between San Francisco YC and Richmond YC for two nights, Tuesday 9/25 and Wednesday 9/26.

All ideas welcome.......

We were there last year and would prefer a different location this time! I'm checking with Loch Lomand YC........

I was going to suggest Corrinthian YC also, but another nice stop is Marin Yacht Club or San Rafael YC, both of them are slightly upstream of Loch Lomond. San Rafael is a friendly crew that enjoys tipping a bottle while Marin YC is pretty upscale and has swimming pools, tennis courts and a health club I believe.

Loch Lomond and either of suggestions are however north of Richmond. You might also try Schoonmaker's Marina in Sausalito. They are very centrally located and one can walk easily to downtown or the West Marine Store nearby. They are also close to the Bay Model and to Mollie Stones Grocery Store which is an experience.

Golden Gate is Probably too close to SFYC for your needs

If you want to have fun (and great priced drinks) the San Rafael YC. Just took first place overall for best boat Opening Day, and know how to have a good time. Nice little ride up the San Rafael canal too, lots of interesting homes and boats to look at.

Thanks guys! I guess I should give you the itinerary:
Fri 9/21 Martinez YC
Sat 9/22 San Rafael YC
Sun 9/23 Marin YC
Mon 9/24 SFYC
Tues 9/25 Loc Lomand YC????
Wed 9/26 ???????
Thu 9/27 Richmond YC
Fri 9/28 San Pablo YC
Sat 9/29 Vallejo YC
Sun 9/30 SJYC, Bethel Island

sounds like a forced march. you guys will need a break why not stay 2 nights at SFYC. plenty to do.

A lot of the stops we can only stay one night due to conditions placed by the yacht club where we are visiting. An example of this is another YC is coming in the next day and they will need the dock space......

a forced march LOL that's a good one!

How about a night at anchor? You should be able to find spaces at Angel Island's mooring field in the middle of the week, though I don't know that reservations are possible.

Since you've already been down the canal in San Rafael, you probably don't want to backtrack to Loch Lomond. With two days to kill between SFYC and Richmond, you could easily hit the Estuary and visit Encinal or Oakland YCs. The Giants are in town for both 9/25 and 9/26, so IF you can get reservations with South Beach Harbor, South Beach YC would be fun. Their new clubhouse is great.

We did the Ayala Cove thing last year. We had to raft up on the moorings and was rather awkward. Folks aren't interested in doing that again soon.

I'll float the other ideas......thanks, BTG!

No St. Francis or Golden Gate YC? Berkeley has a YC as well.

GG Yacht Club now is very short of docking space-----they can only accommodate 5-6 boats.....St Francis is a maybe at this point. Loch Lonmond is willing to put up with us for two nights if we want!

I'd second going into Oakland or Alameda. How many in the fleet?

Ballena Bay is nice and great fuel prices. You can grab cabs or mooch rides from members and go see the Hornet; downtown Alameda has some good restaurants and shops, plus a great ice cream parlor.

The fleet will be somewhere between 10 - 20 vessels. Some go for the entire time, others join in for awhile and return home early or arrive later and finish the cruise. Also, some choose to drive over to join us at one of the clubs......we are very flexible. Whatever works!

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I've turned this information over to the Fleet Capn to finalize the itinerary.
