Yesterday (Sat)...Interesting Day

Mike

I just got a very fair price from a boat moving outfit out of NC, who are insured, bonded boat haulers, who come highly reccomended. I will send you the details if you are interested. As a general note I found the guys out of NY to run $1000 to $1200 higher.

Pete, thanks, please send me the name

Also be sure they shrink it prior to transport. A friend just had a go-fast he purchased moved up from Texas and a part of the canvas broke loose. The grommets scewed up his gel coat pretty bad as they flopped around in the wind on the highway. If the company/transporter is good and marks the connections well then all should be OK. Afterall that is how many of these bigger boats get to the dealers. Good luck.

Many boat haulers do not allow any covers on the boats at all, including wrap. Shrink wrap at 65mph can and does rip off and create a major hazard to motorists behind the truck.

Mike, also add in the cost of captain per day, his meals, and expenses (like flying home).

You are going to be over $10,000 to bring her up on her own bottom IMHO.

My boat was $7500 in fuel (fuel was cheaper) and dockage from Ft. Liquordale to Liberty Landing,NJ, I didn't have a cost for the captain. 6.5 days. We had a North Easter come down the coast and I had to run 3 days inside to get to Thunderbolt, Ga. Then from there is was 1/2 day to Charleston, NC for a tourist stop, then 3 days up from Charleston, running up on the inside of NC and out to Norfolk. I ran at 26.5 knots average on the ocean. Inside you're limited on speed/wake in many places in Florida.

Your crossing from the gulf to the east coast is probably 2 days, then 5-7 days run time up the coast. Plus time for the captain or yourself to prepare the boat for the trip north, food shopping, buying supplies, checking the boat out, etc.... So add 2 days prior to leaving as well.

Thanks, Jonathan, trucking will be about the same, with no hours on the motors. I have decided that if I buy the boat, it will be trucked to NY.

Now the big question is, will the name be HOGAN VI, or is it time for a new name?

What??????

No more HOGAN, HOGAN, HOGAN?????

Blasphemy!

If you change the name it would be like entering the Witness Protection Program. Now for some that new start may be a good idea on this forum, however only you can decide. Hogan VI sounds good, maybe you should create a poll to decide.

Truck it to the Chesapeake or even Cape May and take her north from there. You'll save a bundle on the trucking plus you get to run her out in the ocean and enjoy it.

Cape May to Stony Point can be done in a day. Chesapeake is a 2 day trip.

Hmmmmmmmmm, interesting idea...

Pete, I didn't get a PM from you.

Truckers do not like to come to NY, period.

They charge extra to come up, tolls, traffic, extra permits, etc........ They have a poor chance of getting a return load from NY, better chance in the Cheaspeake or South Jersey.

Don't you have a train car I could put it on?

Mike

I sent one again, let me know if you don't receive and I will find another way to get it to you.

Pete, first one came as an email, second one as PM. Thanks, I'll check them out.

Thats it... I have decided to stop eating and go on a hunger strike until such a time as the conversations about not keeping the name "Hogan" have stopped. I feel it is a noble cause that I am sure many in the PBM & SPBM would support. In fact we are now taking donations for "Save the Hogan" Yes, your small donation of $500.00 will not only go towards all marketing and legal expenses for the cause, but will afford you a genuine keep sake artifact from the basement of the current "Hogan". A donation of $1000.00 or more gets you the fake dog s--t or fake puke from Mikes Cockpit.

That's a good idea that Jonathan had, that's a nice run back home and you get to enjoy the boat a little.
