Check out the flood watch this weekend. Make sure you are ready just in case.
From the NOAA site -> Uh Oh

I sort of consider that much rain combined with some melt to be conducive to high water. I know this is the second warning this spring but just a friendly reminder to check up on things.
And no Pete, the Dam is fine. I hope!

Heck, I'm jealous. You guys may be launched before me. Actually I hope all goes well for you guys and its nothing like the last few years up there. Keep dry....

Oy vey, thanks a lot Dan...

I'm hopeful that the relatively dry winter (even with a foot of snow that's only an inch of rain) plus another inch or two of rain forecast, it wouldn't be too likely to have more than a nuisance flood. But you never know...

Butch that works for me as long as we can float away! Maybe I should hook up the main's and open the valves :D?

Next week is looking at single digit temps again! I think Funksatawney Fill was Fibbing. It's time for some groundhog stew.

Ouch! Well at least we got the snowmelt out of the way this week. And all the rain was down in Westchester so THEY got flooded out instead of us, for a change...

So what was the outcome guys? Is my boat floating or not? Did the water make it up past the bulkheads? Just curious since I probably should stop by this coming weekend to do some work....

Nothing yet Mark. We wound up with less rain and snow melt than it was drummed up to be. Cold temps up here this week will slow the melt down again. Hopefully we dodged a bullet. And hopefully enough melted so that if we do get a big storm with alot of rain it doesn't flood.
Sunday is looking like a day to work outside at this point.

Figures - I'll be working INSIDE the next few weekends at boat shows. I can't wait for winter to be over - its supposed to be near zero tonight across the area. Thank God my fireplace is fixed this time around...

Tonight: Increasing clouds, with a low around 9. West wind between 3 and 6 mph.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 27. Wind chill values as low as -5. Northwest wind 7 to 10 mph increasing to between 15 and 18 mph. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.

Thursday Night: Clear, with a low around -4. Northwest wind between 12 and 15 mph becoming calm.

Ok so who's uncovering THIS weekend...?

Dan I think I,ll ask jimmy to put amy marie in. I,ll just put the snow props on

John you're going to need better than snow props. Maybe if you had a set of those spurs for cutting line and weeds they'd work. The creek's frozen solid again so they had to start bubbling the docks.. Again. Going to -1 toniite also. And I thought it was warming up..
Now that you mention it taking an RV out on the ice might be a possibility.

Dan, there was an interview this morning on the radio with the owners of a restaurant called "The Bridgewater?" They said it is along the creek/overlooking the creek I thought in the vicinity of the Maritime Museum. Have you heard of it? Sounded like it could be another "destination" spot possibly with docking like Steel House or the Mexican place next door. Bring us up to speed, time to think about nearby places to go....thanks....G

Geo we were there a while ago having met a couple we know from the neighborhood. Since we had dined earlier in the evening we did not eat while we were there but we had fun throughout the evening shooting pool in the basement etc..
This place is located at the foot of the suspension bridge on the Kingston side. And I mean right at the foot of the bridge by the traffic light at the end of the bridge. Maybe we'll check it out this week and let you know what the deal is.
But so far, Ship To Shore has gotten it's act back together and Phil along with the rest of the staff there are doing a very good and consistent job of preparation. Steel house was looking for a pizza maker in the paper this weekend, so we are not sure what the direction is there. Rosita's is still going strong we think although we have gotten tired of the Mexican food up here. It seems that the cooking style is becoming quite pervasive.
But a short cab ride away, uptown you have the Ugly Gus which offers a good menu for the buck and the Kyoto Shushi place is also worth a stop.

Meanwhile, I'm thinking brunch in a place down south is a darn good idea. How about we all meet down there when the roads are clear of salt?

Well, Henry's on the Hudson overlooking Peekskill Bay would probably love to have a group come in. April 1st is my only free Sunday over the next month but if you want to see if there are others free that day I can do arrangements. Actually that's Palm Sunday, scratch it. April 15th, whaddya think? Too close to boats putting in? Last time we did 11AM sitting, we were out by 1:30...your call....George

Hey Gramps, Now that does have a ring to it...You know us die hards...The Jersey Family is game...In fact who knows...we may be able to boat up...
