Let me start by saying I am in Seattle waters.
I have my boat out for bottom painting. While the boat is out I am going to change my zinc's. The sales person who is also a mechanic said I should change to ALUMINUM.
I am in fresh water 6 months and salt water for 6 months. He said my transom Zinc is not working, I asked why? He said it's a basic Zinc and it's not good in fresh water and when I go to salt water it does work. I asked why are all the other zinc's gone then. He had no answer. I wanted your input please.
2ND: After seeing the boat out of the water I notice the boat paint flaked off in some spots.
The same guys is telling me it's going to be 4-5 additional hours of labor to scraped off what flakes off and then sand it so they can go over it with paint. Does that really need to be scraped off and re-sanded for the bottom paint to hold?
Thank you team
