I keep seeing reports of record low water levels, with ramps and marinas closed due to lack of water.

Anyone out there have any first hand reports? I seem to recall we have a few members in the area...

not sure about Lake Powell, but lakes in NorCal are at record lows. Lake Folsom is less than half. Going to be a very bad summer in terms of fire potential.

Yup, we could use some water. This is the Antelope Public Ramp. The ramp i use is still open and probably will be all season since it's extremely long. Just swamped due the closures.

I typically pull me boat out and put in in storage around May and then just trailer it to the lake as needed but this year I extended my slip through next year and will just sit tight.

I just saw that Folsom Lake is 1/3 capacity.

I find it interesting that the ramps are that long, I take it that is to accommodate variable lake levels?

My wife and I visited Lubec, Maine on the Bay of Fundy last year and I was amazed at how long the town boat ramp was to accommodate the extreme tide swings. But even that was not as long as the ramp in Phillbo's picture.

Yes, the ramps need to be long to account for fluctuations in water level. The ramp in the picture is about average. The one I use is a bit longer and is at risk of being closed if the level drops much further.

Personally I would not have an issue with that because that would mean all the south end ramps are closed with the exception of the valet ramp at Antelope Point Marina and being greedy since my boat is in a slip this summer (never done it before) we would have access to the lake and the crowds would not be so bad. Less Wake Boats = a good thing!!!

We don't venture out on the lake much during the season due to crowds and weather but have a couple trips planned to meet up with friends renting houseboats.

All that water going to SoCal. Not sure what they are going to allocate to the farmers. Better to let Beverly Hills be green than to actually grow food

With Folsom Lake so low, there is a super bloom of wild flowers. Here's a couple shots near me, but the other end of the lake has tons more

Looks like a runway not a boat ramp...

Phillbo, that place looks amazing!

I was speaking with a friend from the lake . He is on the first doc in the marina and closest to the shore. His houseboat is stuck in is slip due to no room to back out before hitting the shore. He said the marina is going to TRY to pull the docks into deeper water but he does not see that happening anytime soon. So much for the convenience of slipping in the closest dock.

My slip is on the second to last dock so no issues. I prefer to be as far out as possible. I don't have to put up with all the clowns during peak season , quitter and better sunset views.

Typically I slip Fall-Spring and pull out for storage during peak seasons when we don't use it as much but this year I'm staying put in the slip out of fear all the ramps will go dry and the crowds at the ramps still open due to the other closures..

He sent me this picture.... Sucks to have to pay for a slip when you can't even use your boat.... B-dock.jpg
