1983 searay dash peeling

the top coating on the wood on my dash near the windshield has been peeling and is almost gone. What can I do to set back to original or at least protect the wood from rot. thanks

He does custom dash panels for older sea rays I am having him do my 95 330, hope to get new panels next week. He is about 3-4 weeks backed up right now
