Hey guys, I had a guy working on my boat which needed a port side velvet drive that mates to a 454 crusader..long story short he lost it.. I now need to get one but don't know how to find the correct one. Ideas where I can find out?

No record of the model number of the mysteriously lost transmission in your log/records??

Chances are good it's a series 72C , either straight(10-18) or v-drive(10-05). Should be easy enough to check the ID plate on the stbd Velvet Drive for the exact model # and reduction ratio then translate that into the model for the opposite rotation engine from whatever rotation the stbd engine is.

Don't go by propshaft rotation as, depending on the gear ratio, the transmission gear output may be the same or reverse of input from the engine.

You would need the "assembly number" which is referenced here once you know the reduction ratio.

But it's possible you have different model VD in there.

Sandy, thanks, I do have books once on board again I’ll look for the information suggested .. thanks for giving info
