A bit of the headliner just forward of the cabin entry has come loose from the underside of the deck. There is what looks to be an upholstered piece of plywood about 3" wide that spans the width of the headliner just inside the entry hatch. Removal of that piece would permit access to the problem headliner backing. Anyone have any clue how the 3" wide strip is attached and might be removed?

Boy that's a head scratcher. . .Velcro ? Sometimes with tucked material, a screw is shot in under a fold, don't see how that would work here. Could the material have been wrapped along one edge, then the plywood screwed in place, then the remaining edge been tucked ? That's all I got.

Let us know when you figure it out.

If its anything like mine in my 90 310 dancer, its a hinged piece that folds down. That allows access to the dash wiring...

I think the larger panels are held in place by some type of aluminum track that is screwed to the cabin top. I don't know how that piece is held in though. I've wondered about that on mine for some time. Once you find out, please post so the rest of us can learn.

My boat (same as yours) has exact same issue. Headliner is partially down right over the aft bench of the dinette. Not bothering me that much yet, but if you have an easy fix please do post.

I've not been able to figure out how many of the interior panels are attached either. It's like some sort of black magic.

My panels where screwed in. You have to look very closely. When factory installed. The hole was just big enough to let the screw in and then close up behind it. We just finished installing new foam vinyl in headliner and side panels. Refinished all the teak at the same time.

Thanks all. I'll take a hard look for screws this weekend and will certainly post any results (hopefully positive). On the Sea Ray site there was some mention that the adhesive used to adhere the headliner fails at 120 degrees. This is the first year my boat has faced south in a slip and it was a very warm July as well. The failed panel is under the navy blue dash that would have likely gotten a few degrees warmer than the rest of the deck.

The same panel on my boat is sagging a bit, not too bad so I'm waiting til it gets worse before I touch it.

Not sure how brave I'm going to get with this. Don't want to make a big problem out of something that, at this point, isn't really a problem. Upon close inspection, it looks like the panel is screwed to the deck across the forward edge of the panel. I can feel a screw head about every 3". The material was then adhered to the panel face and then tucked under the rear edge of the panel. The screws kind of force the whole panel into position. There seems to be no access for removal without either cutting the fabric at each screw or peeling off the fabric from the plywood panel. I'm thinking the best option may be some kind of adhesive used sparingly applied with a syringe under the headliner material. Like I said, it's still a project under investigation.

James, not saying this is the situation in your case but there is Velcro that you need a crow bar to separate. My '93, 37C had such in cabin. Just FYI.

I haven't seen any velcro used on my '89 but they did use a ship load of screws, well hidden at that. Good luck with the glue, keep us posted.

I felt that board on my boat this past weekend and I can feel a number of screw heads under the fabric. I think they attached the panel and then covered it with fabric.

Use a thin wire, ie. coat hanger, you can pull material that is folded over and expose screw. Once you find the first one and learn this technique it becomes very easy. We have now complete salon and galley area, now moving to forward state room. It is worth the effort, we went to a lighter color, makes boat look wider and brighter. Oyster or light cream beige. Marine liquidators in Fort Pierce had some instock for about $9.00 a sq yd. Joann Fabricks
about $21.00 per sq yd.

I'll maybe give it a try. The boat is going to storage soon so don't know when I may get to take another look at this. Thanks for the suggestion.
