I am looking at trading for this boat has
new 5.7 Mercury engines. Your thoughts on this boat model yr etc
I will be having a mechanic check it out

Trading What?

What model 5.7?

What drives?

Is the interior updated or does it still have the Don Johnson element to it?

Need more info.

Complete custom built new 5.7 Mercury engines. All hoses replaced, soft and hard wall. New high rise intakes. All competition cam, lifters, rods, Keith Black hyper eutectics pistons, rings, high volume oil pumps, all new raw and fresh water pumps. 80hr’s on starboard. Less than 6 hr’s on port.
Borg Warner velvet drives with new pumps installed. Interior is updated nicely done:

New teak and holy sole. - 09
All new fabrics and foam. -09
New curtains. -09
All wood trim refinished. -09
All new window treatments. -09
I appreciate your opinion

Forgive my ignorance. If that is what you are trading, what are you getting? If that is what you are getting, what are you trading?

Oh sorry I am trading my 2000/06 24.5 Proline WA with a 06 225 Merc Optimax 206 hrs. Looking for an older Sea Ray 28 - 30 for weekend getaways

Sounds like a nice boat. I have an '89 300 DA, same boat but with an aft cabin and outdrives instead of straight inboards. If the price is right and you like the boat, get her surveyed and go from there. Trouble spots are transom/stringers and gas tanks.

Even with all the upgrades, boat is probably only worth mid-20s these days. So make sure your getting a fair deal. As far as a 30 foot boat for weekend getaways, it is probably perfect. Good luck.

Many on the Engine forum are telling me to stay away from this engine high performance not good..Kind of bumming but I respect their opinion

I kind of agree with the engine forum. Building performance engines for a 300 Weekender won't really make it perform much better and will probably use more fuel...plus, how reliable will they be? Don't get me wrong, the boat sounds great, but I'd be a little leary of the engines

After discussing this with my Merc Mechanic at Offshore Performance this boat (Engine) wont work for me. I appreciate everyones feedback. I am still looking at Sea Rays 28-30 ft and know I will find one.

Thanks for all your opinions I really appreciate it

The Trojan looks good, but I question the 20 mph cruise and 30 mph top end? Seems kind of low with twin 454's!!

=========================
yes, a bit low, but it's just the owner being conservative.

The sweet spot for mine when she has the 454's was 15-16 kts where she got just over .8 nmpg

Not too shabby for a 33' boat with a 13' beam and the interior volume of a 37' boat.

I love the boat may have to look at Trojans.. Bad thing I would have to upgrade my lift, dont want to keep it in the water. I take it they are straight inboards.. Perfect scenerio would be fresh water cooled, I/O and under 10,000 lbs. But beggars cant be choosey..Thanks keep sending them to me, the layout meets my needs
