Does anyone know how to replace the screening on the port hole windows? A friend of mine has this boat and doesn't know how to remove the screens that are on the outside of each of the 4 oval port hole windows that open from the inside. The screen frames appear to be held in place by a rubber gasket that is pushed into the window frame from the outside. Are these screens removed by pushing out on the screen from the inside? Thanks in advance for replies.
 
HMMMMM, not sure about these. all of the sea rays I've had the screens are on plastic frames that pop out from thge inside.

Go to the sea ray web site, go to archives, parts and look for a schmatic to see if that helps.

I checked out the parts list and it was no help...but thanks for the suggestion. I told my friend to check with a SR dealer.
 
I bought a '97 in Dec. and found onboard new screens in a box. There was a receipt for about $160.00. Someday I may get around to installing them.

Do you know how to install them? Do the screens have a rubber gasket around them that inserts into the window frame?

They have the rubber gasket. I don't know any more as they are still in the box.
 
I had new screens for my old 97 dancer, but I never got them installed . I was told by there mechanics that you had to unscrew the frame around the window and pull aprt to get the screens out and the new ones in. I unscrewed all the screws but the frame would not budge! I traded the boat in a few days later so I never tried again, just left them in a bag for the new owner.

From what I have been told, they are not easy to repair.
 
i have the same boat and purchased the kit for one window for something like 28 dollars but have not tried to replace it yet.
 
DO NOT unscrew the frames. I have replaced the porthole screens on my boat. I have pics of the whole process. I will post them later today. It's pretty easy. Gotta take the Admiral shopping now.

OceanSpray, sounds like Bliss bought your boat since he found new screens in a box on his! ;-)
 
Okay, I found the pics. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the rubber gasket out of the frame. The glue was dry and hard on mine, so it came out nice. Be careful not to rip the gasket.

Clean any residue out of the frame.

Place the gasket on a flat surface, glue side up. Put a bead of silicone on it. Lay the new screen material over the gasket, and cut it with about 3" overhang. Put a bead of silicone in the frame. Put the gasket & screen into the frame. Make sure you pull the screen tight. Leave the overhang on for now. Close and latch the window, Once everything is dry, trim the excess screen.

I also put snap covers (pictured) over the screw head that the screen touches. That was where mine started to fail.

P.S. I put the snap caps on the screw from the little black knob that you open the window with. The screw on the other end of that was either abrading my screen, or the heat of the sun on that screw was burning thru the screen.
 
Thanks Rob, Now I can go and give it a go. If I can get the gaskets out without damaging them I should be able to use the left over screen from re-screening my porch instead of 28 bucks a pop.
 
Bob, I was able to get black screen that was an exact match. I think I got it at Home Depot. I remember paying a whopping $3 - $4 for it.
