1st Trip to Delta - Can You Help Me Plan Itinerary

Barry,

There is endless fun to be had, but to give you good recommendations, we need to know what kind of activities you are seeking. Let us know what your general interests are and we can tell you which stops will work best for you. If you're not sure, I'd stay at B & W or Lighthouse Resort they are both centrally located have cabins, launch ramps and safe places to leave your rig. Before you start off, and as you cruise, take in some of the major landmarks .... Mount Diablo in the west-southwest, The Tall antennaes in Walnut Grove to the North, etc. It is almost impossible to be lost in the Delta, but it is very easy to become temporarily without known position. Keep working toward a known landmark and you will soon see something that can be recognized on Hal's map.

I thought of Veiera's and Snug , mostly for the cabins, but also proximity to Rio Vista, and not that far from Walnut Grove, the Meadows and Georgianna Slough, plus close to Steamboat, Prospect, Miner and Sutter, three very scenic sloughs in their own right. I am not of the opinion that the Delta gets much prettier than these areas within a ten mile radius of Veiera's.

Agree with all of the advice, just had one thing that was mentioned previously. If it's windy, and wanted to travel West to Antioch on the San Joaquin river, I'd either postpone or take some back sloughs rather than travelling the deep water ship channel. Only becuase the wind chop can make that trip very uncormfortable in a 17' CC.

Other than that, you can basically go most anywhere.

As Dave has requested - tell us what your likes are - what you like to do - and the feedback can be tailered better to help you...

And I highly recommend the cabins at B&W. The location is great, and I think you would like it there.
