I thought we had it bad (which we did) but I stopped by Bo Bay today and they really got hosed! I left the pics large so you could see the detail. I really feel for these folks. At least we can get our stuff off.

28" of wet snow on a roof structure not designed or built to handle that weight.

Now you know why their rates are so high: To cover the insurance they'll need to fix all them boats...
 
The marina is not responsible. You sign a waiver when you store during the winter.
 
Waivers are made to be challenged. Lease holders should have a reasonable expectation of the soundness of the construction of the facilities they are leasing. Get a good lawyer!

If Mc'D's can be sued (not rightfully) for serving hot coffee....well....hot, to a clumbsy dumbass, then anything goes in USA!

Its up to the boat owners' insurance carrier to make their policy holders' well and then go after the marina and their insurance carrier for retribution. Properly insured boat owners will be out of pocket for their deductable, usually 10%.
 
It looks like every boat on that dock sank. That's pretty sad. Personally speaking if we are not going to be on the boat regularly we don't store it in the water. Hopefully no one was aboard when that happened!
 
No people were injured as the marina does not allow full time live aboards.
 
I used to be at Georgetown Yacht Basin a couple of years ago and would have been under J dock shed as a liveaboard now as this is about the only location set for winter liveaboards... Going to NC now... Best of luck in recovering to all at both GYB and Bo River!

I wonder what the DEC has to say about all those Boats under water for any length of time.
 
Was down to Bo Bay last weekend clean up is moving right along All boats have been removed just wondering where they put them didn't see any at the marina..
