How many times have you said that a 20 min repair turned into a 2 hr job? Sat. I finally pulled the boat into the shop to replace the lower unit on my outdrive. It wouldn't go into gear easily, so I thought the clutches were going bad. I had another lower end so I finally decided to replace it. I took the cover off the box were the cables connect and I noticed that the cables were loose going down to the outdrive. After further diagnosis I noticed that the pawls that hold the tension were not engaged, I corrected it, and yee ha it worked fine.
With all the time I had left over I fixed the wiring to the port tilt switch that has giving me problems for a long time, and replaced all my dash switches with rocker switches. Well all but two, I didn't remember that the wiper and the nav. light switches were three position switches, so now I have got to still replaced those two. Still took me about 6 hrs of work , but I got a lot done.
I will probably have to practice docking with both motors again, I have been only using one for a quit awhile.
