Wife and I are looking at a 2001 406 MY with diesels, it was used the summer of 01 when new, it has 18 hrs. Has been stored since then due to boat being in litigation. Now boat is up for sale, showroom condition, the asking price is $260,000. was $425,000 brand new. Only has chartplotter. was wondering what everyone thought or comments on price.
 
I would recommend looking at the 396 version, the salon is very spacious with the L shaped couch...we have a 2000 Carver 396.
 
I like both the 396 and the 406 w/diesels. Which does it have; Cummins 330 or 370? Price? Depends. They are probably asking near the market. Is the seller a bank? I ask because banks want cash not boats. I also think there is a princely broker's commission included in there. Also again, all systems including the engines are suspect if they have been sitting that long. Build LOTS of contingences in your negotiations. It's a good boat. You won't make a mistake there.
 
I'm sorry. One more thing. The $425,000 number; demand that they document that. They won't. Because they can't.
 
seems alittle high even though it has low hours. If not stored right you could have problems.
