We've never boated in sleet before, but the return trip from Baltimore on 12/2/2007 was worth it. Being a powercat owner, I have to first show off the Navy's new toy that was in town for the Army-Navy game, but then onto a more Christmas theme. I didn't get a chance to board her, but I was told she cruises at 55 knots, and with her thrusters can do 15 knots sideways.

And the rest are from civilians giving their time and effort for the holidays and the Marine Corps Toys-for-Tots fundraiser.

Thanks to Inner Harbor East Marina for giving us a 50' slip with a view for our 30-footer.

Hey Kurt,

I'm seeing some flat gray paint and a gun turret in your future.

Sorry I missed you guys.

Wes

Hi Wes,

Yes, that's what I'm thinking. With some minor modifications she'd make a great live-aboard! (modifications and about $115,000,000!, but the gun turrets would be AWESOME! It would really make those situations where someone takes my right-of-way much more interesting...)

I would have let you know we were coming, but with the weather, we made up our minds at the last minute. We'll catch up with you soon.

Kurt,

We are docked at the end of E dock in Inner Harbor East (the 50 Chris Craft with the Christmas lights). Sorry I missed you! I also greatly enjoyed both the Navy win, the USS Thunderbolt and the Christmas Parade!

Delaware Jim

Thanks giolic.

Jim - they had us over in A18, but I think I remember seeing a Chris Craft over there decorated.

Depending on weather, we might be back up sometime this winter. We like to ski as much as possible, and have a place in the mountains, but if it's going to be crowded or mushy on the slopes, we'll head downtown as long as there isn't ice on the water. If so, I'll try to remember to let you know.

Got a chance to get the tour of the HSV2. She displaces 1800 tons, made of Aluminum in Australia. (the Navy has to lease this vessel because it is not USA built). Used for rapid deployment of troops, supplies and humanitarian purposes. Small bridge with NO paper charts on board according to the Commander.
She left port on Tuesday with 40 50 Kts winds with the aid of a Tug standing by in case it went sailing.
Powered by 4 diesels driving jet pumps

The commercial version is called the “CAT” and runs from Nova Scotia to Maine.

Kurt,

It was a pleasure to talk with you this past weekend here in Baltimore. Unsure how much longer we'll be here (job??) but keep in touch via PM.

Delaware Jim

Jim,

It was great meeting you as well. It looks like we picked the best weekend for our first overnight trip of 2008 as the temps for the coming weekend will most likely start icing things up around here. Stay warm!

Hey Kurt...you forgot to stop by the office and get your free bag of ice.

That's OK. This time of year I just set a tray out in the cockpit and the ice magically appears in a couple of hours....

I didn't see you around, and being a weekend, I figured you weren't working. If you were and I missed you. Sorry!

Yeah, I had the weekend off...there's only so much excitement I can take this time of year.

How's the progress on the garage coming?

The word around the campfire is they have a few more weeks of digging and then the real fun begins.

I must say though, it's a pretty impressive hole.
