Well, as a past Commodore of the BEUCBRU&PNYC (BoaterEd Upper Chesapeake bay Raft-Up and Partying Not-a-Yacht Club) I'd be happy to do it again. All I need is a plane ticket and a boat!!
In that there seem to be a fair number of boaters are on the western shore & south, maybe we could do something on the Magothy or the Severn. Maybe around Gibson Island or Whitehall Bay - or any other suggestions. I've only been boating down here for 1 year, so I don't know a whole lot of places.
(I know it might be quite a haul for C_Spray - but he can make it anywhere in a matter of minutes at warp speed!!)
Wait a minute Erle, a trip like that would take me 2 days!!! (just kidding).
What about Lankford Creek off the Chester? I've never been there but heard it's nice.
I'd be glad to host one of these but would need to keep it near my homeport because the Admiral refuses stay over unless conditions are perfect (like it was last year!). I was thinking Sand Island, near Fishing Battery (just west of Turkey Point). If she didn't want to stay, she could take the dinghy home, 'cause "The Captain Ain't Movin'"!
Rob
The Magothy is still pretty far up. Keep in mind that even Annapolis, to most Cheaspeake boaters, is still "Upper Bay" as it is about 80% of the way up the bay from bottom to top. The Norfolk - Hampton Roads boaters will have quite a haul.
edit -
Oops. Nevermind. I just re-read topic, and does say "Upper Bay" raft-up. Tough luck for the Hampton Roaders on this one. But, if they make the trip, people will be impressed.
Lloyd's Creek (Sassafras River, just in from Betterton)
Still Pond
Fairlee Creek/Jellyfish Joel's
Bush River (Across from Fairlee)
Whorton Creek
Rock Hall
Hart-Miller Island
Middle River
etc.
etc.
Just wanted to say we'd be interested. We're looking to get out a bit more this summer and meet some new friends. Already looking at the Chesapeake Bay Cruisers Club party, but that date isn't finalized yet. Will certainly be watching this thread as well.
We're in (of course)! Now that we just bought on Stoney Creek (deep in the back pool, where), I'll offer that up for a nice place to drop the hook. We can accommodate many boats there. The added bonus is that if we run out of supplies, we can dinghy back to our dock. The only caveat is that I don't know if we have room for all of Dominic's toys!
