I changed the electronic ignition modules (inside the distributor) on both engines. One was defective but I changed both as a precaution. The distributors are Prestolite. The engines are 1988 Crusader 270 HP 250 CI. The starboard engine did not seem to change much but the port engine RPM went slightly down at idle and when the throttle is momentarily "gunned" I get a backfire occasionally. I have air gapped the ignition module sensor to 0.01 " as the paperwork directed. Why the backfire?
