Dear Regal boaters!

Last weekend I visited the Dusseldorf Boat show in Germany. The European Regal dealers have a stand there but unfortunatly the 2665 was the biggest boat. We are concidering to move from the 2665 to the 2860 (with 2 Volvo 3D diesels).

Exept more space, I am very interested in the stability of the boat. I am also interested of the price you guys have to pay for this boat in the US. In Europe the price including tax, without options is app € 153.000 at this moment this means US $ 220.000 delivered to the client in the Netherlands (incl transport etc.).

Hopefully you want to share your experiences with me, especialy when you boat with the diesels. All your info is highly appriciated!

I doubt you will find anyone in the US with the diesel powered 2860. Not saying there aren't any but in the under 30' market, diesel powered boats are few and far between.

The additional cost of the engines buys a LOT of gasoline here.

Prime Time,
We originally looked at the 2665 in early 2007, but ended up ordering a 2008 2860 in May 2007. We took delivery in August 2007. We moved up a notch to get more beam, and the second engine. Also, the 2665 cockpit layout did not seem as "social" (some of our 2665 owners will probably disagree!). The boat was fully loaded except for the TV, and stereo upgrade, which are better left home. Our purchase was discounted about 24% off list price since the dealer had no inventory carrying cost.

We have enjoyed the boat, and have had just very few minor warranty issues so far. We love the fit and finish relative to other brands we considered, including Sea Ray, Chapparal, Monterrey, and others.

If there is one complaint, it is that the boat has significant freeboard and canvas relative to it's beam and weight. It tends to get caught more easily in the wind. You get used to it, but I wish the boat "hunkered down" a little more when docking in windy conditions.

As Rommer suggested, we opted to keep the Volvo GXi gas engines rather than upgrading to the diesels. We will likely trade up long before the extra cost would be paid for.

Good Luck!
