Well, I'm finally ordering my sound system equipment. There is nothing on the bridge area, except for the original speakers at the floor on port and startbard. Those speakers were once connected to the system down below. Does any one know what path the speaker wires took coming up to the bridge? I'll probably install the new head unit in a gimble mount on the dash and was wondering what the best path to the speakers would be. I plan on putting two speakers in the radar arch and putting two at the floor where the originals were. Anyone have any ideas for the right way to run speaker wires?

Thanks!

I hope someone can give you some advice there. My boat is older so the wire routings wont apply.

Hmm. Trying to remember...I think the wiring for the speaker on the port side runs underneath/thru the storage area below the passenger seating. If I recall, the wires came down into the salon, thru the back of the storage cabinets above the salon love seat, and across to the head unit for the stereo.
I'm not sure how the starboard side wires run, altho I have had that speaker out as well. It wouldn't surprise me if they ran back into the engine room first, then across to port side somewhere, then continue in a similar manner, to the stereo, as the port side.
Unfortunately, my boat's wrapped for another month, before I can check mine.

Thanks, Guys...makes sense. I may just run new wiring using the radar archs, if it works out.

My carver is newer (2006 466) but had the same wiring going to the salon stereo. I upgraded the sound system after buying the boat in a series of purchases (replace the broken sub wit a better one, then the other speakers didn't sound so good, so....)

I found the original wiring to be pretty thin and poor. I upgraded everything from factory to JL Audio speakers and amps. There were speakers on the transom and I found that they performed poorly - even after installing the JL 7.7's and installing a dedicated amp for them. I replaced the speaker wire and they started to work really well.

You may be better off using new wire and not running it further than needed.
