3467 santego lettering

Unfortunately Carver no longer has these available. Most sign companies can come pretty close to reproducing them if you have a sample.

What's the best means to remove old lettering, striping, and transom artwork?

Thanks,

Jim

If it is a decal, I have had good look with a simple hairdryer.

I peeled all of my blue striping and lettering off my 1990 3467 with a heat gun then Acetone. The painted name on the back was tough even with acetone, but it came off. I needed to go over the gel three times with different levels of compound to get the color fade to match better. Still needed one hot summer to blend in. I like the way it came out!!! I found a place that sells chrome lettering in different sizes, so I changed up the name.

Oven cleaner will take off painted names, but can tend to discolor the gelcoat a little...a little buffing will take care of that though.

3M makes a rubber wheel that goes in a drill. It is made of a material similar to an eraser. They can be purchased at a auto body supply place and I think the cost was right around $20. They really work well. I used one to remove most of the stripping from my boat and there is still more than 1/2 of the wheel left. Well worth the money and very easy to do.
