Have a 2003 Carver 356 Aftcabin cruising on the Chesapeake and really love the boat. Great room and great quality. It's powered by two 8.1L Crusader gas engines. I've never seen a performance curve for the 356 with Crusaders equating RPM, fuel consumption, and speed as I have for other Carver models. Anyone seen such a graph? Had one for a 1988 Mariner '32 and it really helped in planning trips, best range RPM, and best economy RPM.

I have a '90 Mariner 32 and would love to see the graphs you had for your '88. Can you send me a PM?

(Sorry, I can't help with what you're looking for.)

Tom,
I had the graphs in a binder and gave to new owners when we sold the boat. Let me see if I can find any copies. It had Mercruiser 454 carborated engines.

Mike,
I also have a 2003 356, only mine has Volvo 8.1's. I would assume the performance curve would be similar for both. With the current cost of fuel, it sure would be nice to see that graph. I've tried to "guesstimate" it based on boat reviews of similar boats with a similar power setup. I've also run some numbers comparing slow running (1200-1500 rpms) vs. the "sweet spot" which in my boat feels like it's around 3100-3200 rpms. Slow yields about 12 MPH, fast around 21-23 MPH. The only thing missing in the equation is the exact fuel consumption at each RPM level. If you ever have any luck in finding this information, would you be so kind as to send it to me?
I will say, that since we've started running slower, it makes for a nice ride. We're seeing a lot of stuff we didn't notice before.

Thanks............
Dave

I had the 2002 356 with 8.1L Horizons. Was a great running boat. I do have the performance data from the manufacturer- its very detailed. If you want to email me at intothemystic506rb2@gr5tgmail.com, I can email you the specs. I want to say the test power was 8.1 Mercs, not Volvos or Horizons, but it will give you a pretty good feel - thanks, Ken

Ken,
Your e-mail address seems to be a bit screwed up. This site doesn't seem to like the "at" symbol. Is there any way you could post some of the data on this site. Or maybe your e-mail address would come through properly by using the "Private Message" function.
Thanks.....
dave

My guess is, you need to try:

intothemystic506 "at" gmail.com

replacing "at" with the ampersand symbol (above the 2 on the keyboard)...
