The wife an I have decided on this boat. There are 3 in the state for sale and we have seen the local one and plan on seeing the other 2 this weekend.

I wonder if any of you that own this boat can tell me some things to look for???

The first one we seen I was happy about the layout and style but was less than impressed with the care the broker has been giving the boat with it sitting at their dock.

The other 2, I hope are better cared for.

I've never owned one, but have been aboard and they're wonderful. Love the dual mode semi-displacement hull design. Unless you want to go fast all the time, that is. But its the biggest 36 footer around!!!

Look for window bedding probems. Also look for delamintation of the fore deck. I have heard there where some problems with the swim platform bedding an subsiquent proiblems with transome moisture..Check with the surveyor. I have an 85 and it works great.. just check all the normal stuff..

Have a friend that has an 80. He also has encountered window bedding problems, but the fix was easy. That's all I've heard him complain about. That model handles very well in Lake Michigan wave conditions.

We had a 33' mariner for 17 years. Ours was a 1977 and had the balsa core hull. Make sure the 80' has an all glass hull. We did experience some delamination of the hull on ours. We now own a 38' Carver aft cabin and some friends of ours bought our 33'. Still a great boat.

The 3607 is all glass. Remember that all "7" series Carvers have solid hull bottoms. Its the earlier "5" and "6" series boats like BB's 33 footer and my 28s that had the coring issues...

I'm unsure of the meaning of "5", "6" and "7" series. This is our third Carver and you'd think I'd know that by osmosis if nothing else.
