Will be having new drapes made.
My question to other owners is;
Do the dowels in the side and center panels really need to be used?
We used hair Barretts to help close them to keep the morning sun out.
On the new panels there will be a flap with snaps to close them.

Thanks in advance.

On our Carver 350 Mariner we chose to remove the drapes covering the sliding door and had a snap on cover made that installs on the outside of the glass doors. With our design (the glass doors tilt the top of the doors inward) it was hard to make drapes that didn't hang straight down leaving big gaps along the sides, mores toward the bottom edge. Having a Sunbrella cover that snaps over the glass door on the outside lets it fall down tight to the doors. No gaps, no peeking in. Works great for us. Found the idea on this web site. Thanks whoever suggested it!

I've done what Bob did on both my 32 Mariner and my 380 Santego. I have a panel with zippers that covers the opening where the sliding door is. I roll up the panel for normal use with tie straps at the top. That was one of the best upgrades I've done to both boats. Keeps the harsh sun from damaaging the interior in the hot Florida sun, provides extra insulation and privacy at the dock when panel is down for the evening-and no fussing with the plastic track guide inserts that get brittle and cantankerous with age on the indoor curtain panels.

Good [point cmariner32. I forgot to mention we had two zippers made into the cover to allow us to simply unzip a panel to gain access to the cabin without having to remove the entire cover. We did not think about having straps made into the cover to keep the zippered doorway rolled up. Good idea, we'll have to add them in.
