Hi Carver Folks!
I have seen a couple of 42 Aft Cabin 4207 models from the the late 80's and wondered if anyone can give me a little advice on these. I see some have Mercs, some Crusaders and some Diesel. I don't really want to get into the gas vs diesel debate, suffice it to say either would work for me.
I really appreciate any insight you could give me.
Thanks and cheers!

You should speak with Bruce (pdecat)... His 440 is an updated version of the boat you are looking for, just using more modern nomenclature. I would look at some of his posts for more information...

Suffice it to say the 4207 is a boat I wish I owned :) ...

I side with Pete on this one... Ultimately I would love a 48 Viking MY or 50 CPMY, but that 4207 would be a PERFECT stepping stone for us beyond the 3607AC we are in today. (Everyone has their own preferences, and I would hold out for Diesels in a boat that large. I have gassers now and feel I am on the border for what could be beneficial)
Good Luck
Don

We have been happy with our 440 which is the successor to the 4207. It is a good boat but for any speed you will need big engines. It does equally well as a "trawler" or on plane because it is heavy at 38,000 lbs with diesels and with a short keel and semi V bottom.
There are a lot of pix posted on this forum.
