Any thoughts on a 2001 444 carver cpmy ? One just caught my attention.

Mark One thought from some past research. If you fish the cockpit may be necessary, however when we had a 35MY Carver I looked at a 39MYCP, and relized they just add 4 to 5 ft. to the lower size to get there, so I opted for the 35 (not a fisher person) Docking was less, and in speaking to a few that had them, didn't use their cockpit much, cause the MY feature retarted any air flow to the area to sit and enjoy etc. Advantage would be if you are exposed to a number of floating docks, that would create easier boarding, and rear entrance. I also think you would have a smoother ride due to the extened hull, which will help your planning efforts.
Just some thoughts of previous times... How is it powered??

370 cummins.
One of the things I didn't like about the MY only is when under way there is no way to get close to the water. My background is on Sport fish and convertible type boats. It was like sitting on the roof of a house while underway for me on the MY with no ladder to get down. I like the CP idea while on the hook also vs. the MY only. Until last month I would have never considered a CPMY because I thought the CP was a waste of space but I'm seriously rethinking that now

The 444 is a beautiful boat. We have been looking at them for awhile. The big thing to remember is it is the 39 with the added cockpit which is great for fishing and as you said, being closer to the water. We winter store one that had the hard top added to the bridge. Really turned out nice. The 404 is also a nice looking boat if you wanted to go smaller.

The 370 cummins is a very good engine, but is it enough for that boat?

You may have a good point on the 370s'. Someone else has a boat like ours with 370s' and we have 450s', and their boat , I feel is underpowered. It does run fine, however I guess it is just how fast do you want to go. Our 43 is probably about the same size 47'6" overall, and I really wouldn't want anything smaller for power.

thanks for the feedback....anyone here know owners or have anymore feedback. I will be spending the whole day Saturday viewing 3.

I have a 2004 444 it has been wonderful very roomy for the size a very comfortable boat for 4-5 days the cockpit to me is an absolute must it adds a great sitting area and makes the boat seem much larger I have twin volvo tamd 673p the boat cruises at about 18 knotts I have added a nick jacson remote hydrolic transome davit and 11foot dinghy with a tohatsu 18hp the added weight took off a few knotts but it is a wonderful set up I am looking to sell and move up to a 570 voyager or 56 voyager

Sounds good... Thanks for the feedback. Mark
