I have a vibration on a 2001 7.4 MPI BIII, this motor is in a 2001 Bayliner Ciera 2655 with 190 hour's.
The vibration is not in the outdrive, I have ran the motor on a hose in the driveway with out the drive on and it still vibrates.
This is a cycling type vibration that is felt between 2800 and 3400 rpm.
When I run this motor on a hose in the driveway it starts to vibrate at 2800 rpm, as I increase the rpm's to 2900 it will lose rpm and falls back to 2500 rpm, then it takes off again. But it vibrates up through 3400 rpm.
The will not lose rpm out on the water.
This is what I have done:
Spark Plugs Changed
Fuel/Water Separator filter changed
Compression Test( All Cylinders Checked Normal)
Injectors looked good
Cylinder leak down test showed #5 leaked down quicker than others.
Shop wants to pull heads and look at valve on #5 they think that it may cause # 6 to not fire properly.
I have no idea what I should do next,
