South Beach Florida... What a beautiful time of year to be on the beach. Shorts and brews on the beach... All I need is my boat. Hey guys hope your enjoying the snow and ice...

It's beautiful up here too. The sky is clear, the air is crisp and clean, and Christmas is only a week away.

We were still boating as late as Dec. 9th when we took the ferry from Tortola back to St. Thomas. Talk about luck tho, Olga came through the day after we left!

Some of us from D Dock at Pennybridge are planning to visit Tortola in April. Beef Island. Got any info for me?

Sure. We were on a charter so we did not spend alot of time on Tortola. We were based out of Nanny Cay but basically circled Tortola making stops at Norman, Marina Cay, Virgin Gorda, and Jost Van Dyke. From Beef Island or there abouts check into getting a ferry over to Virgin Gorda and stop in at Saba Rock for lunch/drinks. Very unique. If you land on the other side of Virgin Gorda at Spanish town, then hit the Baths via taxi. Stop in at the top of the Baths for lunch, then do the trail. Bring suits and snorkel stuff down the trail.
Also, Trellis Bay has a ferry that runs over to Marina Cay if I am not mistaken it's free. Stop in at Marina Cay for lunch drinks... Bring snorkel gear. Not a great snorkel but they have a nice beach you can hang on and relax with #4 painkillers. Yes, we had a #4.
Monkey Point is supposedly a great snorkel stop. It's on the north side of Tortola.

In this photosho, we moored off the Baths (large rocks) then went into spanish town and took a taxi to the top of the baths. there is a pool there where you can cool off. Bring swim gear etc..

While we did not charter with these folks they have a map that lays out the area well.

Wait a Minute Pete, I seem to remember something about your being down south not to long ago, thats while we were up here freezing our as's off...

Russell,
Hit the diner up by the Delano...just like home! For a real treat, walk there...on the beach of course(wink)
Don't for get Mango's...and if you do anything, hit Smith and Wolenski for sunset appetizers and a view of some of the biggest battle wagons around
Have fun!

Yeah, I know, but it sounds like some of you are taking extended trips down there, and on the water too!!! That sounds like a lot of fun to me...

To be honest yes it was. But then I imagine you had some good times in Florida or other places that we didn't! Does it compare? Geeze I dunno, but I do know that there are times when others do things we don't and I wish we could.
Look at it this way. When we came back it was rough. After all the flying I had to take all the back roads I remembered from growing up in Queens to get us the heck out of JFK and back north. The VanWyck was a snarled mess. Then the freezing rain set in and the rental car we had must have been in an accident because the headlights weren't aimed well making it tough to see the lines on the road. Finally back in Kgn someone wiped out in front of us on the Chandler Drive between the circle at the thruway and B'way. Fortunately we arrived home sans accident. Now the sun doesn't come out for a week and we now have a foot of snow. Depression sets in!
At least you didn't have to get acclimated to Winter twice?

Randy, Morgan Hotel Group is a client of mine, Delano falls under that group, what a great hotel. There was an employee party Monday. Actually Joe's Stone Crab is the best... That is where we spent Saturday night. Huge Jumbo Stone Crab Claws... and Wolfies for breakfast Sunday Morning... Don't forget about Cuban Sandwiches for lunch.. I love South Beach, Let me correct myself. I love East coast Florida.. Boating all year.. Randy, sea ya for New Year's...

Hey Dan! At least we all have the same thing in common now - which is that we're BUMMED OUT to be home in the cold!!!

I hope at least we get a White Christmas. But with the forecast for 50 and rain on Sunday, that might be in doubt...

Yeah, it's not looking too Xmas'y. But at least we had the snow to work with. Regardless it's a good time of year so hopefully that prevails and we can make the best of it!

28 days till I'm here:
