Hello all.
I Have a 270 with twin 350s and the port engine got some water in the oil.
I have pumped the oil out the dip stick and refilled a couple of times, but as soon as I run the engine, the oul is milky again. I don't think I have a head gasket or block problem as the engine idles very nicely.
Before I do a compression check, I thought I might drain tall the oil out of the pan but I'm not sure I can get to the drain plug. Well, I know I can't get to the drain plug, but I'm wonder if there might be a way.
When I pump the oil out the dip stick I'm only getting about three quarts of oil removed. Seems like ther must be another couple of quarts that I'm not getting out that is causing the problem.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Jim

How old are the manifolds and risers? If it runs good your manifolds or risers or the gaskets are leaking. The water leaks into the engine after you shut it down, if your manifolds, gaskets or risers are leaking. A head gasket leak would have to be pretty bad to leak water into the crank case and then the engine would run like crap.

You'll get a larger better response on the engines forum.

HOW did the water get in the motor? If you have a stuck exhaust valve, just running at idle could be pumping more water in.

I'm not sure how old the minifolds are. I bought the boat last May and the Previous owner had put two new heads on it becuase of a bad head gasket.
I think you may be right about the manifolds or risers leaking. I think I'll pull those off and take a look.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Jim

Blown head gaskets + water in the oil = Bad risers and manifolds almost every time. If you run the engine to temperature, and shut it off for 20 minutes, does it turn over slower than normal? If it does, STOP USING IT NOW and get them replaced before you destroy the engine completely. Kurt
