Installed to new batteries under the seat. The port one would not hold a charge. Batteries Plus gave me two new ones. (Great!) The port one won't or is not taking a charge and pooped out. How can that be? They appear to be wired in series with the starboard batt. down stream. I'll switch them this Saturday. Your thoughts?

Jim, I think we have the same boat. Mine is configured as such: 4 batteries. 2 port, 2 starboard. The starboard batteries are under the seat, the port are in the engine compartment. The far starboard is for the genny, the near starboard is for the starboard engine. The 2 port batteries are wired in parallel, and are shared for the house and the port engine.

I have the divi-charge battery isolator (that gold brick with the cooling fins) just to the right of the batter charger. There is also a selenoid just above the divi charge isolator that is activated by the emergency start switch on the dash (that would allow you to jump one engine from the other).

I had the Promariner 30 Amp 3-bank charger. I had constant problems with the port batteries. The tech at Promariner said I was cooking my port batteries because the charger wasn't intelligent. I replaced it with a Promariner 1230i Plus. I just did it this weekend.

The tech at Promariner offered to sell me the 1230i Plus for $350. When I told him I got an internet price for $299, he countered with $250. That's the best deal around, I think. You will have to give him the serial number off your old unit. The replacement was pretty straight forward, except I had to move the Divi Charge Isolator, and I installed the new charger sideways.

Hope this helps.

My set-up is different as I don't have a genny. I have two large batteries under the cockpit seat. There are two Guest on/off switches there as well. In the e-room to starboard of the starboard engine is a slightly smaller battery. I haven't looked at the charger yet. I well this weekend. Thanks.

Report: First I want you to have this info. If you have a ProMariner product you might want to take note. I spoke w/ James Mitchell Manager-Tech Services Group 200 International Drive-Suite 195 Portsmouth, NH 03801 603-766-7603. He is very knowedgable and has the occasional deal on products. I believe both new and rebuilt.
My problem was just a blown fuse between the charger and the batteries. The surprise was that the spec fuse is 40 amp and a 30 was in use. It had not been a problem for the three years I have owned the boat. Neither the 30 nor 40 amp fuse could be found in Racine, or as of this moment on the web. So I am living with a 20 amp for the moment. Mr. Mitchell suggested I check with Best Buy as their audio installers use some of the same fuses as are used in charger installs. It is about an inch long and the diameter of a cigarette. I checked McMaster-Carr and, surprisingly they don't have it. I may have to settle for 30 amp.
Thanks for your responses.

We had a blown fuse too, easy fix. Wish I would have seen this post earlier so I caould of passed this along to you.
