Our recently acquired 1983 Carver 3207 has a to-do list 1,000 items long. One of the items that really bugged me were the missing fins in the ac/heat ventilation louvers. Made the louvers look like jack-o-lanterns with missing teeth. After a lot of experimentation, I finally got it. Mahogany of course, shaped on the stationary sander, carefully drilled on the ends. MinWax "Fruitwood" stain to age the new fins just a little so they match the others, a buff with MinWax dark paste wax because the older ones have a nice soft shine. Push the tiny rubber tubes flush with the louver frame, line up the new fin, then push the tubes back in to trap the new fin.

I did the lower louver first, the upper louver (just above the table between the salon and the galley) is a lot worse, that has four missing fins. How in the world do people break those fins out?

Louver before, with the missing fins:

Step by step that boat is going be perfect. I should only be about 90 years old when it's done.
