Hello
My A/C water pump broke after someone stepped on it and broke off the output fitting. While I decide on how to fix or replace , is it possible to use a fresh water dock hose in it's place ? The pump basically takes in seawater and pumps to the A/C unit. I can't tell it's rating cause the label is worn , but replacement pumps start at 300 GPH up to 900 GPH. So I figure a hose inlet set about 1/2 way on might work ? The fittings on the pump are all garden hose size so it would be any easy fix- I don't have a genset so I only need it when at the dock.

Thanks
Bob

A garden hose will work just fine. Of course when your marina gets the water bill they may be a bit miffed. Not me, but a fellow at the marina. $6k Bill.

thanks dave - my marina doesn't monitor water usage - i plan to repair the pump , just wanted to test my system since i'm new to this boat.

I don't think anyone would mind you using shore water for testing purposes, but management will not be happy with you for cooling down your boat with it.

Somebody is monitoring water use because someone is paying the water bill.

You can test it but I wouldn't leave it running after the test.
