What a gorgeous day Sunday was...today too.
My dad came out for the day with us on Sunday and declared it "the most relaxing day I've had for a long while". That alone makes having a boat worthwhile.
Hope your weekend was as sweet.

It certainly was! It was great up here also.

We were going to go to the Norwalk boat show, and when I saw how nice it was I cancelled that one and headed for the boat. It was a great day. The river was so calm early on around 1PM.

My only complaint is the sunburn on my face, I glow in the dark. (Damn light skin!)

Yep, great day indeed. We woke up late, talked to John and Barb at the municipal docks in Kingston, had a great brunch and headed out at 12:15. It took until 1:30 to fill up at RYB...very frustrating but we did get to see Dan and Deb dink by as we were filling up.

From there, it was a relaxing cruise home with some good friends and great weather. There were tons of boats on the river. I ran right through a sailboat race north of Newburgh, I was determined not to alter course or slow down. Am I obnoxious, probably but hey, if you chose to zig-zagg across the channel, I assume big wakes must be part of the fun.

I did however slow down outside of West Point in respect of SeaTow helping someone out. I was amazed at how many people didn't in that narrow stretch of the river. The traffic between WP and Bear Mountain was crazy, tons of boats going north...I was afraid Indian Point blew or something the traffic was so bad.

All-in-all, great day, one of the best!!

Monday was great. I shared Croton with two other boats. Split time between playing with the kids and scraping barnacles.

The weather is supposed to be good this weekend too . . . is Hogan still working the magic?

No, the weather can't get much better than it was on Sunday. We were up in Kingston City docks with two other boats from Haverstraw. (Dan and Deb, we'll catch you next time around). The morning was fabulous, crystal clear, cool but comfortable, quiet and relaxing. Those first two cups of coffee combined with the weather and our dockmates (WALSHIE was just two slips down from us)were the best. We left about 2:30 and got up on plane just outside the creek and stayed on plane almost all the way down to Haverstraw Bay. Had to slow down for Lady Jo's 4' wake, but that was it. Did the required sailboat evasive manuevers near Rondout Creek and Poughkeepsie but other than that the ride back down was probably one of the best of the year. We had the tide and a northerly breeze in our advantage. We were back in our slip at 4:30. Chris, might we have passed you without noticing? I do recall the Sea Tow boat with the cruiser in tow, but we passed him wide to port. This had to be one of the best cruising days of the year.

We were at the kingston municipal docks. We got there early afternoon on saturday, and left around 11 am on Sunday. Where was everyone located? Had a blast at mariners, then the steel house, mariners again, downtown cafe, then i think ship to shore for brunch. Can't remember what we did late night though.lol.

Me, I was all the way at the end...last slip (#31) and according to JohnH, the sherriff had to assist the dockmaster in convincing someone to vacate that slip since they did not have reservations. Good thing too as we got in late (6:30) but we DID have reservations so I simply docked and settled up in the morning. John and his crew were a few slips in from us. We ate at the steel house and went to mariners for dessert and cocktails just as the band started. Stayed there for an hour then went back to the boat for cocktails.

We almost had brunch at Ship to Shore but chose the place to the right of it on the corner. Not sure why but it was gooood!

We saw the sherriff help someone leave. I called earlier in the week and the dockmaster said you don't need a resi, yeah right, no upside to not putting it in the books. we were two down from the beautiful blue hull italian cruiser. We walked down to check out the docks earlier in the day, but it was before 6:30. probably passed you on the docks. next time.

Yep, I too called and made a reservation even though they said it wasn't needed. Come to think of it, on the way up I didn't realize it was *that* late so I called the dock at 6:17 as we passed Norrie's point so we probably got to Kingston at 7pm. Nobody answered so I left a message, I wonder if that prompted the dockmaster to ask someone to leave before we came in...interesting! Then again, you'd think they would call me back. In any event, I'm happy it worked out...and down there at the end is pretty nice, not as active as closer to town.

I'm sure you guys noticed this boat: http://www.yachtbatteredbull.com/

You just have to watch for falling objects from the bridge at that end Chris.

Rumor had it that the captain hails from kingston, that's why they were visiting. thanks for the website, the crew will love it.

We headed down river to Surf Side 3 at Chelsea Piers in NYC and walked to The San Gennaro Festival. We could not have asked for a better day. :)

When I called for reservations on Monday, I talked to Tom and reserved three slips with no problem. We were actually closer to the action when we first arrived but the electric was not working in those slips, so after we were all in tied up, we had to dock all over again about four slips closer to the bridge. It is nice down there. I had heard about incidents of things being thrown from the bridge, but it still would have taken a pretty good toss to reach our boats.
Ship to shore for a real good dinner and again in the morning for a nice breakfast.

Hogan,

I saw you guys this sunday. I was the lone 280 sundancer with the dog constantly jumping off the back to swim. It was my first time in Bowline, nice little spot I must say.

Turtle, we saw you there also..We also saw you at Haverstraw afterwards getting fuel.. We where behind you on the fuel dock pumping out...
