Sunday was quite a busy day from the radio chatter.
In a period of about an hour there were three calls.
I heard one Mayday but it was very weak and could only hear bits of the transmissions but from the CG side it appeared that it might have been a sinking at the mouth of Mill Creek. There are a number of Mill Creeks so not sure which one.
There was a report of a sinking where everyone was picked up and again I could only hear the CG side of the transmissions speaking to the boat that picked up the people from the water.
The last was a sinking west of Love Point, and that one occured about ten minutes after I passed a nummber of boats anchored and fishing there. We were trolling at around 2 to 3 knots. One of the anchored boats was an outboard powered center console that was stern anchored.
The conditions were somewhat rough 2 to 3 foot swells but much bigger waves coming every 2 or 3 minutes. Since that was the only Center console we saw in that area, and the pickup boat that called the CG was one of the other anchored boats, the stern anchor was probably the reason.
Although there was no small craft advisory on Sunday conditons did get a bit nasty in some of the rain squalls and most of the boats that were out were the larger ones. Thomas Point did record winds up to 18 knots around the time of the sinkings. Does anyone have any mmore information?
