I heard a report on the radio today that the Coast Guard wants to raise the "weight per person" notice on vessels since Americans are getting bigger. The reporter said that if the new proposed weight were in effect last year, then perhaps the Ethan Allen would not have capsized because there would have been less people on board. This could get interesting.
