Well I launched the boat yesterday at mid tide and I didn't have enough water to go out so I went straight to my slip. It was great to see so much activity at the marinas many boat in already and many more getting ready to go in. When the tide came up I went for a short shake down cruise and all went well but very few boat were out, this needs to change. It has been nice meeting many fellow members over the last few weeks and I look forward to meeting more of you in weeks to come.

I would like to wish all of you a great safe and happy boating season.

Two reasons for the lack of river traffic, first is boats not in the water, second is the wind yesterday - it made for some rough water.

You couldn't get out at mid-tide...? Not to be a stick-in-the-mud (or a prop), but I couldn't accept not being able to come and go as I pleased and being at the mercy of the tides. Gotta put some crimps in your boating plans at times.

Friendships run deeper than water at SPBM!

Spent a nice quiet night on the hook in Bowline. Saw only one other boat there and they left after a short while. (Hi Giggity!)

Croton was a ghost town but was pretty snotty.

That's what makes me a very happy boater. I have both at Haverstraw!

Plus a 20 mile hike to the pool or car!

We spent the day out fishing. Productive day with lots of fish. Caryl hooked one about 15 lbs. Unfortunitly the guy with the net hit the 8lb fishing line instead of the fish and broke the line so no pictures. Had to dock with some very high gusts but in with no problems...A great day out there...Then B dock partied again....

Butch, you forgot to mention the swimming...

We were out yesterday fishing had a fee bites to loose the fish at the boat due to a line breaking and the other the fish spit the hoot.

It was a nice day until noon when the wind kicked up.

Was going to go today but my friends backed out so I am home and will just do some work around the house. Sooner I get that done then I can relax the rest of the season on the boat.

OK...So I forgot to mention the one minor thing about me diving in the river. At least I went in willfully and did not fall in.

I had the same problem earlier this week with breakage but it was my own fault. Used old line and poles were on boat all winter. I spent most of Thursday night changing all the poles.

It was nice till the wind picked up and the tide started coming in against the wind. Also made it interesting to dock...

Long story made short. ..

I caught a large striper and went to the swim platform to lip the fish. As I went to lift it I dropped it. I reached for the pole and it was gone. I saw it float and then sink. When I was landing the fish the wife's line had crossed so she tried to bring in her line to see if it still was. Well there was my fish and pole as she winded them towards the boat. The fish managed to snap the line and the pole started to sink again. I stood there on the swim platform watching my pole sink and figured what the hell...I dove in after it...I am please to say I did manage to save the pole but the fish got away

In case your wondering, the water temperature was 48 degrees and I was fully dressed....

Must have been a nice pole.

We went out yesterday afternoon for a quick run down around croton and back. It was definitely a bit snotty out there. I had the sonar on for a bit and was showing a few good size fish off croton. We got back to the dock and met a few nice people. I also was told the marina put me in a slip and the previous tenant was wondering why I was there. I'll have to sort that out Monday.

Wish I was back out today but had my daughter's 7th B-Day party. We took 20 7 year olds girls hopped up on sugar to see the Hannah Monatana Movie. I am exhausted!!!

MJK

Butch as nice as the weather was I don't think I would jumped in for a pole unless it was made of gold.

Well our or at least my first weekend or over, I must say I don't remember ever having such nice weather to start the season off. I'm looking forward to meeting some more dock mates no one is in near me as of yet. I just have to look at all the fun going on at G dock by the way can you keep it down you look like your having too much fun over there. Enjoy!

yesterday was supposed to rain and be cold. It turned out to be a great day. Too bad I was not on the boat.

Ah yes, I love our meetings... I really hope we can go over the New Testament sooner than later... Come one, come all...

Rob, you are gonna love G-Dock...

When are you going in? I see you boat is un-shrink wrapped.

I plan to be up there all weekend this weekend. Actually may even stay on board for the first time.
