I'm thinking of taking the generator out of the boat and putting in a couple of 4D or 8D batteries to run the a/c with a inverter. The a/c is 1400 watts and its 16,500 btu says 12 amps so total I would say is 15 amps total pull. Can anybody help on this issue of how long I can run the a/c on a charge to see if this is a good idea. We stay out on the boat on the weekend all I need the battery to last is about 8 to 10 hrs. for the a/c . the generator uses about 1 gallon an hour of fuel so at todays rate thats about $30.00 a night and batteries would be cheaper and quieter .
Thanks for any help
Pat
