With the temperature at our ski place near 65, we decided this weekend we'd boat (besides, Presidents Weekend is too darn crowded to enjoy skiing anyway). Am I they first one on this forum out in 2011? Granted, we'll be spending two nights since tomorrow there's already Gale Warnings up. But Sunday looks pretty calm. Downtown Baltimore (Inner Harbor East Marina) makes a good winter destination.

Here's our empty home slip via my boat-cam:

And here's a few shots of the water on the way downtown today. We saw one tug, a couple Navy small patrol boats near the USS Comfort, and 2 or 3 sailboats. Not a lot of traffic for sure.

Hell, I haven't even order the parts I need to put the motor back together yet! Enjoy, Kurt, while I turn green with envy!

I plan to go "play" with the boat on Saturday, but will not take it off the lift. Does that count? I guess I could play around with the new antique Johnson outboard and dingy.

Hey Kurt...Bill told me you were coming down today. I'll be in the office Saturday night so stop in. I also have our 'winter water' on at the dock so you can top off your tank or hose off the boat if you feel like it. I always keep a few hundred feet of hose laying around in case you didn't bring yours.

Thanks, Mike & Mike. We all need to hook up.

Wes, it's blowin' like crazy here. We're in H-19 (that was fun getting in today!). Tony was in by the time we got back. We'll see you tomorrow for sure. I think IHE is a better place to "winter" this wind-storm than Bill's house considering the direction of the blow. I just took my sat dish down as it couldn't keep up with the wind.

Kurt,

I'll make a point of getting with you sometime this season so we can chat about boating in the Bahamas.

Mike

Mike,

That's a topic I never grow tired of talking about! We're heading back for the month of June this year.

We're do you keep your boat? Are you on Rock Creek?

Kurt,,I assume you are coming back down on Sun. not today!! It is blowin a steady 30 here at Thomas Pt. with gusts to 50.

Dusty,

Yeah, Sunday's been the plan the entire time. Forecast says 10-15 Sunday morning and then less in the afternoon. From B'more to Rock Creek, I'm fine with anything 20 or less, so it'll be an easy trip home tomorrow. I'm watching the water at my home slip via my webcam and I'm darn happy to be on the boat and downtown as I'm seeing whitecaps in Rock Creek. The sailboat on the other side of my pier is really pulling hard on the windward pilings.

On another topic, is Lake Shore one of the stores you deliver to?

Yes, it counts!

Where in FL are you?

West palm beach. Capt bill comes tomorrow for our fist lessons. Monday we start up the intrrcoastal.

Good for you, John! I just came back from mine - but it's on the hard covered in shrink wrap.

Wait til you feel those turbos kick in!

Have a great trip, John. That will almost make up for all the inconveniences of relocating!

Thanks kurt and hogan. Relocating has already been worth it. I get to go in a new area.

Hey Kurt, how far south counts? OBX? We've been going out around every other week all winter, though December was pretty awful.

Kurt,

We keep our boat at Atlantic Marina Resort (between Rock Creek and Bodkin Creek). I think we get to all the same places you do in the summer (Swann Creek, Hart-Miller Island, Magothy River, Farilee Creek, etc).

Mike

Sorry, George, you're to darn south to count :-) Care to join us in June in the Bahamas though?

Mike, uh, yeah, that's pretty darn close. How about dinner soon at Lista's on Mountain Road?

Kurt,

We have never tried Lista's but are always open for good Mexican (usually go to Los Portales near the airport).

My wife is out of town for about a week, but when she gets back we'll try to connect with you. You will just need to promise to put the right spin on all the crazy ideas I have been throwing at my wife for the last couple of years (Great Loop, buying a riverboat and now Bahamas next spring).

Mike

Update: It was a great trip home on Sunday. The water was completely flat. Before we left the boat I checked the weather and decided I only needed to put a couple of heaters back in place and I could skp the water tank heaters and the cockpit enclosure supports. NOT SO FAST! I just made a 100 mile round trip today to put the enclosure supports up. Where did all this sleep and snow in the forecast some from?

I'm skipping the water tank heaters for now. It's 48 degrees near the tank and the water in the creek is up to near 40 already. I think I'll survive for a few weeks.
