As we were getting ready to leave the marina today, my son spotted a seal right across the fairway from our boat. We saw him/her surface a few times then last spotted him/her right off Panco.

If my memory serves me correctly, a small seal was using the docks at Haverstraw a few years back as a rest area for a short time. It's amazing what you will see out on the river.

Oh good, maybe his days trying to make music is over! I am sure Seal can be a more productive member of society swimming around the Hudson. Was Heidi Klum nearby?

I forgot to mention that Giggity is now in the water, went out for a ride with Tim. Very few other boats in the water, c'mon people, get 'em ready!!!

I'm working as fast as I can. My back is killing me today from buffing.
BTW a few years back there was a seal on the dock at Bell Harbor it hung out there for a while I spotted him there a few times while I was prepping the boat. In fact there is a picture on the wall in TZ Marine I think he mentioned that it used to stop by each year for a few years. A cool site for sure.

Did anyone club it? I heard there good eats...

whaddya think we had for dinner?

Stony point bay marina had a few photos of a seal that was on the docks. Very cool

I think that is one of those darn catfish that was hanging around Indian Point too long.

We've seen them up the river just South of the Rondout in the weeds. We were able to get within about 10 yards in the dink.

Between the recent eagle sightings and the seals the area seems to continue to be coming back nicely.

The seals have been comming up as long as I can remember. When I was a kid staying at my grand parents I remember watching several of them every year play out on the ice. I would have sworn they where the same ones every year. Used to sit on the old sea wall and would lay up on the jetties sunning...

Butch, what else do you remember from way-back-when, before electricity???

Mike,
THe memory is not as good as it used to be but I remember standing outside in a thunder storm flying a kite with some older fellow. I also have a memory of some guy turning a handle and hearing a voice come out of a cone. I was really young at the time so I am not sure what that was for...

I was fishing Sunday on the south side of Stony Point and I saw a seal. At firsh I thought it was a piece of wood but as it got closer I saw what it was. About 2:30 or 3:00

Mike are you sure it was a seal and not a mermaid I heard they were coming back into the hudson.

Rommer
Yes and there also was an eagle overhead. The pair that nested at the battlefield last year near the lighthouse started to fix their nest up this spring but then they moved across the river to Westchester. I guess there are better sticks to make a nest with over there.
