Does anyone know if Wantagh Park has slips to dock & picnic?

Trip,

I used to trailer my whaler out of Wantagh Park. The slips they have are "won" via a lottery system. From what I understand, they don't have any transient slips.

Also, I have never seen anyone dock along side any of the bulkheading there.

I have seen many boats anchor in the two coves just west of wantaugh park, (Bellmore and Merrick). Also, a big anchoring area is the Massapequa cove. Used to be awesome for fluking too. Not too much last year though.

Good Luck,

Alan

trip,
right at the entrance to the park where the long been broken pump out is located are there transient slips

Rob

I'm sorry Trip. Guess I gave you incorrect information. I never knew those were transient slips.

Thanks Rob. Thats a good piece of knowledge for me to use as well.

All the best,

Alan

If the pump out ever worked thats what the slips are for but for years people use them for transients....

Shame though Town run marina with a broken pump out.... Just another example of how TOH sucks ....

Rob

Wantagh Park pump out worked last August 4 me. I always have problems with the pump out at Short Beach.
Steven

Steve..... Do you need any town permits for Short Beach ...or is it public ???

Whats it like there ???

you dont need any permits for short beach they just redid all the slips and dock a season or two ago they just charge what it would cost to go to the beach and park around $8.00...no water or electric and the boats get knocked around alittle from all of the boats going in and out of jones inlet...I spent alot of time there last season anchored of at the beach the kids enjoyed it...
