finally stopped in Andros on the way to and from our latest exumas trip.

clearesd customs in Morgan bluffs which was pretty easy. Entrance is easy despite all but the last red missing and plentry of room to anchor in the outer harbor. Weather was calm but it seems to be more protected to surge than the closest anchorages in th southern Berrys like Chub.

the inner harbor is cluttered and while deep too tight to bring anything but a small boat. There is a sunken wreck along the sea wall. customs and immigration arrived quickly (half an hour) after calling them at 329 2140. Interestingly because it was a re entry the custom officer simply stamper the existing permit and didn't me fill out any customs form. A first.

the anchorage is pretty nice with numerous beaches and areas to explore by tender.

on the way back from Staniel via the Decca channel, we stopped at Fresh Creek which turned out to be a disappointment. The lighthouse marina is literally falling apart with crumbling docks (I carefully eased our 70' loa agaisnt the Thead) and virtually no electrical (open pedestals and wiring falling in the water). Hotel is closed, pool is empty.

Across the creek, the chickcharnie hotel is closed with broken window. The bar and restaurant on the water, just west of the hotel seems to be the only game in town, although we didn't wait for things to get going. Sadly the rest of the town is dirty and littered.

Entrance into fresh creek is deeper than charteed or reported. the bar about 1/4 miles off th creek has 8' MLW and the creek itself is deeper. Current moves swiftly but no worst than other places in the Bahamas.

overall Fresh creek is not much more than a secure place to spend the night but overall Morgans bluff is a better option In my opinion

Thanks for the insight. I've often wondered how these places stacked up. Having experienced a few places off the beaten path I was concerned and it seems that concern is justified. Sad.
At least it looks like some cash is flowing into Chub now. Not sure about the Berry Island Club.

I don't like chub... Too expensive for one, the beach is nice but overall not islandy enough. Berry island club seem s a better option, I stopped there last year with the tender having anchored out and it seemed like it was coming back.

Last couple of trips before this one, I cleared at cat cay, easy in and out, and then crossed the bank right away or anchored out by gun/honeymoon which is a nice anchorage

Chub could be a great stop if they clean it up and get it all online. For what they charge, the restaurant should not have a "members only" section that has no one in it!

I think the home owners are driving the place down hill with ridiculous expectations.
