This is the marina I'm in. Got a call early this am, wasn't sure if my shed was damaged. Left home drove two hours, attached is what I saw. Another sad story. My boat, the Chris Craft, is unharmed as is the shed. Every other shed had damage, the worst right behind me, E Dock.

I know a fellow HOF has the 53MY that appears to be damaged badly. You can see just a bit of it in the pics. Seeing the pics is no substitute to being there. The tide was coming in this am and the boats were trying to go back up but obviously didn't go anywhere. The groaning of the twisted metal and wood was eery. That plus the diesel on the water and in the air. Sad scene for sure.

sad to see such damage to peoples dreams but the remaining shed doesn’t show any side bracing. I'm surprised that wind hasn’t taken them down long ago.

Heard a rumor on the road today, that Tolchester had a shed go down also? Sorry to hear about Boh. nice marina.

What's an "HOF" ??

Hatteras Owners Forum, sorry I should have explained that. He has a 53 Motoryacht, it was a very nice boat.

I heard about this today. Shocked! I'm still digging out of Georgetown and hopefully be able to get the boat out of the slip tomorrow. Trumpy next to me was going down today, 3 pumps and finally they got her free. We still have a shed on ours but we are floating higher than this am. 47' Chris Craft pushed 2' low in the water. Major damage but still floating......
Sheds for me, never again. Summer or winter.

Oh and glad you made it through. I heard the other sheds are weak. I hope you stay safe.

what a sad sight, but there isnt' a lot of snow on that shed. Looks pretty flimsily built

Just speculation but others have mentioned a lack of side bracing. IF you look at how it probably started it literally snapped off the piling tops as it toppled, once that started it didn't have a chance.

Tolchester did have some sheds come down. I was down there last Saturday with my buddy who keeps his boat at Tolchester. There was not much boat damage because most of the boats were not under the sheds that collapsed.

Maybe it is a safety issue with putting someone up on those roofs.
