Razor blades?
Just kidding. Perhaps a road trip to the north end? What direction is the wind coming out of? Can you get out to dive or fish? Take tender trip through the canal?

I have to admit now that we have a car, most folks like security fences. Most of the hotels have security guards and gates, and many places have razor wire on top of fences.
When the private property has razor wire you don't have to think long about what it's like to live down here.
