Any past or present members? I'm thinking of moving from Liberty Landing. Would like some feedback.

Thanks.

I was thinking of that place, but after looking at their space on Goggle Earth, they didn't seem to have a lot of parking space.

How was Liberty Landing? Did you like it?

I would imagine that the boat would rock much more in Newport that Liberty.

Liberty, where I keep my boat is basically wave free. Boat barely moves at all. Parking does look tight there. Parking at Liberty is only a problem on July 4th.

Liberty also has a pump out boat which is a great feature. I call and they pump the boat out for me. Big timesaver for me.

Fuel dock too.

What dock are you on Michael?

Mike:

I sent the video of my stay at Newport to your email.....did you get it????

They have good security, locked gates with passcards, guards on duty, always roaming around on bikes and in trucks.

I don't really have any complaints about liberty Landing. I've been there since 2003. It's definitely the smoothest marina on the Hudson that I'm aware of.

There is no parking at Newport. The parking you see is for the restaurant. Marina tenants can park there for up to 25 min. They give you one pass for the mall parking garage across the street. That's a big draw back. LL has ample parking and you can usually get close to your boat. I'm on Dock R. I usually park in the gravel boat yard, literally 30' or less from my boat.

Dominic, I got your email and replied.

Jonathan is right about the security. They do have locked gates and 24 hour securiy that constantly patrols all of the docks. There are a few problems though. Many times, people leave the gate tied open, especially on my dock. The Security guards are good about closing them though. It's important to note that the marina is at a state park and it is public property. Many people walk, boat and jog there. I've never had a problem but there have been many instances of theft and vandalism. People get onto the docks and on to boats. It happens.

Do they have bars on the windows too? ;)

My office mate has his boat on the north side of LL. There are no gates there and folks can/do wonder down the docks. He was robbed once but says usually the live-a-boards are there often enough to keep things secure.

Bars on windows is not a joke. I live in Brooklyn and YES, we have bars on the windows. Not a joke, it's a fact of life here.

Sorry to hear that inkblue. I just couldn't live that way. I don't even know where the keys to lock my house are!

My dock has a large megayacht at the end so we have the entire crew (8) always around plus a few others that are on their boats all the time. I've never seen or heard of someone on my dock that shouldn't be there.

The parking issue would be a deal killer for me. My car is literally 150 feet from my boat.

Chris,

The northside of LL is Liberty Harbor marina which is right in the middle of condos, and they are developing the entire tract of land. Will be a rather nice piece of property when it's all done.

LOL. It's great here. I don't think I could live anywhere else. Good income, lots of clients, good nightlife and I have my boat. What else could I ask for?

I've been lucky so far, they haven't had a need for my dock yet!!!

They've only used docks A-F.
