Has anybody had any experience with Steyr diesel engines? I talked to the factory rep at the Seattle Boat Show Saturday & got a lot of good information. However, I've come to respect the opinions of folks here & I'm looking for information about what sounds like a pretty good engine. Steyr makes the highest hp/lb engine currently on the market. I explained to the factory rep that I liked to keep our boat in displacement mode & he told me I could run it at a low RPM without doing any harm. And it sounds like it would cost about $7500 less to re-power with Steyr's instead of Yanmar's.
The Admiral & I keep going back & forth about a re-power with diesel engines. We can't decide if we should get a new-old boat with diesels or just new engines - except for the gas engines, we like our current boat.
