Theres talk out there that this site is inactive. Sorry to say it but this is about as active as I'm going to get on this rainy day. Here sitting looking outside watching it rain.
Anyway back to the topic, has anyone been out on there boat lately? Myself I havent got mine out of hibernation yet.
Went golfing at Saddle Creek in the foothills on Friday and it was sunny and warm. Getting the bug to pull the boat out and get back on the water.
Yesterday went out to the shop and fired up the electric heater in the boat and spent about 3 hrs doing a bunch of up grades I wanted to do before this season.
Next project "maybe today" is to install the LCD TV on a hinge so it can be folded up to the ceiling when not in use.
 
Took mine out to get the bottom painted on Thursday. It was cold, foggy, and miserable. But it was still nice to get out.

But to answer your qustion, yes, we were out just yesterday.

Took a spin from Disco Bay over to bethel island and then up to the San Joaquin, then down past what is left of Lost Isle and then back to Disco Bay.

A few others were out, but mostly we saw the bass boat crowd doing their thing.

Got drizzled on a few times, but no need for the wipers...

A day on the water is always a good day...
 
I probably won't be running the boat for another couple of weeks. I like the sunny days and temperatures in the '70s. There is no heat on the boat and I don't plan on adding any. That doesn't prevent me from going to the boat on a regular basis during winter. I do have heat from shore power and there is never a shortage if things I can do there.

The forums at BoatedEd seem to be much less active than they used to be, even during mid-winter. I've been active on the Wooden Boat Forum lately. WBF gets about 10X the traffic as BE (just from wooden boaters!) and allows all forum privileges to all members free of charge. Wooden boaters are pretty active in maintaining their boats, including paint and varnish in addition to wood repairs. You don't see that many posts discussing advantages of AC over DC blenders, coffeemakers or satellite TV on WBF. Although I've paid for two-year anchors for as long as I've been on BE, I won't be renewing membership this spring. Except for the SF Bay and Delta Forum I just don't use it that much anymore.
 
We haven't been out in our new to us Tolly 34 tricabin but have been down messing with it. In the process of pulling out the carpet and installing Allure flooring. I did this on our express and it looked very nice. At some point I want to fill my gas tanks and pull for some bottom paint.
 
Last Saturday we had visitors from out of town who asked to go out on the boat. I took them out for a short cruise around Angel Island with stop in Ayala Cove.
It was cold and foggy but, being from the East Coast, they felt at home and had a good time anyway.

I'm the guilty one who said the site was inactive. Hope to be out on the boat this weekend - perhaps just a quick trip around angel island.
 
3birds, I'd love to see some pictures of that new floor when it is complete. Or some photos of before, during and after would be interesting too.

I no longer own a boat or go to the Delta, so I mainly read the forum, but don't post [except when I have Delta water info to pass on].
 
3birds I second the request for all the info on your floor. I'm thinging of pulling the carpet in mine and not sure what I will put down.
Arnold is that the docks at Angel Island? I'm thinking of going to the bay this year and would like to visit Angel Island.
getakey, I have to agree that the site is inative this time of the year, but hope to see more of your posts to help it out.
I think its time to start planning a raft up for this year, anyone interested? Wheres FlyWright, hes our raft up organizer.

I took my cuddy out a few weeks ago. First time I've run it since, gulp, October. It cranked right over! Gotta love Stabil, fuel injection and some quality West Marine batteries. I don't use the canvas (a bit closed in for my liking) so wait for it to be at least 60 and sunny. As posted above, supposed to be a nice weekend. Plan on going out for a quick cruise on Saturday. When I had my Maxum 2400 SCR, would put the canvas up for the offseason. Took it out quite a bit in the winter. Nice greenhouse effect warmup due to all the 'glass.
 
I'll take the camera down with me next time. I have the carpet out of the aft cabin but not the main salon. I can see where Tollycraft got their reputation for well built boats. Just pulling the original carpet from that small section was a chore.

Yes. That's Ayala Cove in Angel Island. Normally it's very busy on the weekends. Let me know when you are planning to go there so we can meet.
 
Arnold, thanks for the offer to meet up. Not sure when I would go but it would be great to have someone that knew the area. I've had my last boat in the bay a few times. Its been about 8 years since the last time. I think we stayed at a marina in Alameda or close by there.
Now you got me thinking. I will post another thread to ask questions on were to go and what to see in Bay.
 
I'm here...and game for another BE Spring Fling!! I think we need someone who's retired to do the organizing, someone with good communication skills, someone who has their thumb on the pulse of the delta, preferably a woman's touch...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Any ideas?

I'll start a 2011 Spring Fling thread.
