Aquapalooza July 17th

Dave, any chance you happen to have on your GPS the markings of your anchored location? If so, itll be helpful so I can try to get my anchor back. Though, I must just buy a new one anyways, seems thats what I am good at lately lol

Boat,

I have a grappling hook you could borrow.

Billy K.

P.S. You don't need any hold fast for this job.

I bet you will find alot of anchors in there!
I can check GPS, but I think a guess will be as good as a coordinates since we were not near you.

Ill just stop at the marine store sometime this week and pick a new one up. I just hate for all that line to be waiting for someones prop..

I have an old danforth that was my dads, has a ton of line on it, come by and pick it up. I think, it came from his 30 foot Higgins??

don' buy one, take this one.

Walt, thanks for the offer. When I got back to the dock last night I was washing down the center console and I looked ahead to my Searay, and there is an anchor with a big red bow on it with a card. So Im like hmmm this is weird. I read the card and its from my GF. She went out and bought a new anchor line and chain. She felt bad that she didnt get me anything for my birthday two weeks ago (since i told her I didnt want anything and not to spend the money), so she took this opp to get me something.

She really is the best. Clueless on the water, but shes got a heart of gold. One of these days I am going to get her a ring. She is 1 in a million.

Guess that would suck if you grab the line and it spins around prop and anchor pops lose and crashes into running gear!
Could put a nice hole in bottom if not stopped in time!

Anyone think it possibly practical for a diver who has an underwater metal detector to go down into that muddy mess to retrieve those anchors? Or will they be so sunken into the muck, there has to be quite a few, no?

Anchors, watches, phones, glasses, rings, dead bodies. All are down there.

only problem is, when you step down in the mud, your weight takes you easy another foot!

I was working in Zach Bay doing a recovery job last fall. It is a very soft muddy bottom. Using my metal detector in a 30' x 30' area I found all sorts of garbage and not much of value asisde from all the bottles and cans with deposits. It is like diving in the town dump down there. If most people ever saw the muck and crap on the bottom they probably would never set foot in the water. The guy I was dong the job paid dearly for being a litter bug with all the bottle caps and cans he threw overboard. A job that should have taken under an hour, ended up being a 2 day job. I even found the old snaps from his canvas he threw in the water.
Motto of this story....don't litter! It's going to cost you in the end.

Zachs Bay is in a nice spot and a great place to drop the hook for a couple of hours, but I've learned to stay away from there on holiday weekends or during special events.
Way too many boats, too many drunks, and worst of all, too many people who don't have a clue.
The Memorial Day Weekend Air Show last year convinced me to stay away from there during the busy times.

I was diving there because someone had lost a family heirloom that I was hired to recover.

Dave, you can borrow my FX-23 if you want to size it up for your pulpit. I will be at the marina tomorrow.

Rob! My hero!
Yes, I would love to try it out, but this might be best done on land.
I won't be around until this weekend.
Is it on your boat as your main anchor?
I literally want to see how it sits in my pulpit.
That's a big anchor for your boat.
I have a FX-16 as my rear.
Thanks! We will talk about how to do this as I really want to get back to Fortress, they are the best.

Dave, I have it as a spare/storm anchor. If Walter is around I can also leave it with him. I will be going out for the weekend, probably to hemlock or coast guard cove. I don't know when I'll be heading out. I might be around Sat morn. I will PM you my number - it changed.

Rob,
Ok, I may go to Hemlock too this weekend. Let's wait till we can hookup and see.
Thanks again.
