Calling all fellow Carver owners and anyone else!

Sadly we're selling our Carver, our family is growing so we'll be stepping back for a while but we'll be back eventually. She's a 1989 3807 aft cabin in excellent condition powered by twin 454's (under 540) fresh water use hours. The boat has the majority of Carver options. If anyone is interested or knows of anyone looking do let us know.

Take care all and safe boating!

Don

Congrats on the baby, Don, but sorry to hear that you are selling. You SURE you really don't want to hang on to it and let the child get his/her sea legs at a tender age? Kids do awfully well on boats, you know...

Hi Pete, thanks! We're excited about our new baby. We have a 14 month old who loves being on the boat and she actually loves looking at boating magazines. It's a great boat and it's a hard choice to make. Time will tell.

Don,
There is plenty of room on your boat for four. The new baby will not take up that much space.

Both my children were born on our boat. The only problem we had was they were getting bigger and the boat was getting smaller. So it was time for a larger one.

Don't sell her, if you are a true boater you will keep her and have both children on board next year.

Yes, tell your wife to actually HAVE the baby on board, will ya?!? Now THAT would prove you are an old salt [:-captain] ...

That explains the mess on the floor!

Points well taken, oh yes we're true boaters. I'm the ex Carver naval architect so I'm still very involved with boats and running a survey business so you could say I'm up to my eyeballs in boats. We'll see what happens, our plan long range is to move up but not having a boat of our own to maintain for a while would be nice due to our schedules, we're quite picky about the boat, the interior shots pretty much show the way the boat is all the time. This past Summer we only spent one night a weekend aboard and left early the next morning. We talk about keeping the boat vs selling the boat over dinner each night so we're definitely on the fence though we have friends who have more than enough room if we'd get the itch, and we do have a couple other trailered boats as well so we wouldn't be going cold turkey.

we've got a 7 month old and a 22 month old. we boated less this year than last but it wasn't becuase of the newborn. he's easy since he's not yet mobile. stick him in a car seat or a jumpy thing and he's fine on the boat. his brother, on the other hand, is all over the place, which requires constattn vigilance. next year is going to be tough. after that, it'll get better.

On my old 2895 we actually converted the dinette into a giant playpen by taking apart an old crib and fashioning a removable rail that spread across the opening. It worked very well and was quite successful. My son was on that boat from the time he was 6 months old, and now as a nearly 9 year old he is a junior crew member :) !!!

Sounds like the Admiral is going to make this decision.....good luck!

With our daugther who as with your kids needs an eye on her every second. With the aft cabin layout she's up forward then seconds later she's looking out the aft cabin windows or playing with the bridge VHF mike like it's a telephone. When she was a new born it was a piece a cake, like you said it's easy when they're straped to something like a car seat. We're planning on keeping the boat storaged inside where it is this coming 2009 season to ease the maintenance if it sells, okay if now we'll launch for 2010. Today was spend buffing and cleaning it up so I've got some mixed feelings too.

i've frequently told my wife i was going to invent a velcro kiddie suit and we could just sit the buggers right down on the carpeting and they'd stay put. she nixed the idea, just like the one about setting up a formula bottle in the crib like a hamster's water bottle.

LOL
They just take all the creativity and fun out of it don't they!
Someone probably made millions on those leashes for kids didn't they...
