This phone is locked to the Vz data plan. The SIM card will work for voice but not data.

I just finished a rather length chat session with VS regarding this. Damn. I had decided to run with the S4.

Kurt there are a couple of references regarding the ability to change the APN settings indicating it cannot be done. VZ chat services just indicated Iphone was ok, S4 was not. At this point I have no idea who to believe WRT the Galaxy and a SIM card data plan.
The notion is voice is unlocked but not the data.

Try Verizon Global Support: 800-711-8300

Ok, I bounced around in GS for a while, and as it turns out, the S3 was shipped without the ability to change the APN settings. I believe he said last month they updated the software for the S3 to enable APN setting changes. The S4 was shipped with this ability.

Sooooo..... The S4 is good to go, and so is the S3 and now I know the source of the confusion.

Thanks for goading me into the extra phone call. However I suspect I may not know the answer until we get over there with one...

Excellent. Thanks for the update. I think APN settings are the biggest issue for Verizon users when overseas. I'm still perplexed as to why Jerry couldn't get his UML290 modem to work in the Abacos. I just checked mine and the APN is certainly able to be changed. I'd have to check with him to see if perhaps that setting doesn't exist in the Mac version of VZAccess Manager software.
